WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Pittsburg State University senior
Jack Haukap shattered school and MIAA records in the hammer throw Thursday (Apr. 9) at the University of Central Missouri Kip & Kirk Mule Relays.

Haukap (Garden Plain, Kan.) unleashed a throw of 230 feet, 6 inches to finish as the top collegian in the competition. His mark bettered the previous school record of 221-7 set by Levi Wyrick in 2021 as well as the previous MIAA record of 222-9 set by MSSU's Peyton Barton in 2024. His effort launched him to the top of the NCAA Division II ranks this season and it ranks as the ninth-best throw in D2 history.Â

In other Pitt State action Thursday, sophomore middle distance runner
Eli Gilmore posted the third-fastest time in school history in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 49.70 seconds. Redshirt junior
Dylan Sprecker, the school record holder in the discipline, followed closely behind Gilmore in the race in 1:49.83.

Blakelee Winn concluded day one action in the heptathlon in first place at the Bryan Clay Multi's at Azusa, Calif. Winn (Pea Ridge, Ark.) compiled 3,427 points through four events to lead the field of 14 competitors into day two action Friday.

Winn logged the big point total on the strength of a first-place performance in the shot put (44-0.5) and a third-place time in the 200 meters (24.21). She is the school record holder in the heptathlon with 6,007 points.
