HAYS, Kan. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team enjoyed a record-breaking power display in rolling to a 21-7 victory over Fort Hays State University Friday (Apr. 3).
The Gorillas (28-6, 17-6 MIAA) smacked nine home runs in the game, tying the school record for round trippers.
Dagen Brewer belted four home runs while
Grant Nottlemann hit three.
Brewer broke his own school record and tied the MIAA single game mark with 10 RBI. He also matched the school and conference records with 4 HRs and 16 total bases; and he equaled the the school record for runs scored with five.
Isaac Webb, who also hit a home run in the contest, became just the second player in school history to hit for the cycle (Andrew Schultz, 1999). Webb delivered a double in the 3rd inning, home run in 4th, a single in 5th and in his second at bat of the 5th inning came away with a triple.
The Gorillas totaled 20 hits in the contest. Brewer and Webb had four each, while
Eric Bacon and Nottlemann had three apiece.
Zach Voss (7-2) limited the Tigers (9-24, 6-17 MIAA) to three runs over 5.0 innings of work.
The Gorillas will close out the series against the Tigers with a 1 pm (CDT) game Saturday.
