PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team received the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division II Central Regional on Monday (May 11) when the NCAA released its 64-team bracket.

Pitt State will host a regional pod for the second time in three seasons and make its seventh overall appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

The Gorillas (45-9) will begin the regional against No. 7 seed Rogers State (36-19) with the  No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma (42-13) set to begin play against No. 6 seed Winona State (48-9) at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.

No. 1 seed Missouri Southern (48-7) will serve as the hosts of the Joplin, Mo., pod. The Lions will match up against No. 8 seed Augustana (S.D.) (30-26) with No. 4 seed Southern Arkansas (46-7) facing off against No. 5 seed St. Cloud State (46-13) to round out the other half of the bracket.

The winner of the Pittsburg and Joplin regional pods will advance to play against each other in a best-of-three Super Regional Series, May 21-22 at the highest advancing seeds home facility. The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the 2026 Division II World Series in Chattanooga, Tenn., at Frost Stadium May 28 – June 3.
