Gorillas No.3 Seed For 2026 MIAA Softball Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Pittsburg State University softball team has been announced as the No. 3 seed in the upcoming 2026 MIAA Softball Championship in Emporia, Kan.

The No. 4 ranked Gorillas (45-8, 17-7 MIAA) in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll, completed the regular season on Saturday (May 2) and will face off against the sixth seed in the tournament, Rogers State (34-18, 14-10 MIAA) in the quarterfinal round at 4:00 p.m. (CDT).

Pitt State will travel up to Emporia, Kan., to compete in the 10-team single elimination MIAA Softball Championship with games starting on Wednesday (May 6) and ending with a championship game on Saturday (May 9) at the Trusler Sports Complex.

Friday (May 8) the semifinal round will feature games at Noon and 2:30 p.m. (CDT) with the championship game on Saturday set for a Noon start.

The 2026 MIAA Softball Championship winner will earn the automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division II National Tournament. In the latest NCAA Division II Central Region rankings (Apr. 29) the Gorillas were ranked No. 1.
