Three Gorillas Named NFCA All-American

Davis Captures Division II Catcher of the Year Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Pittsburg State University had three members of the 2026 softball team named All-American today (May 27) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Heather Arnett and Lexi Davis were first-team honorees with Davis claiming the Division II Diamond Sports/NFCA Catcher of the Year honors. Kadyn Trochim rounded out the Gorillas receiving honors with a second-team nod at the hot corner.

Arnett is now a three-year All-American by the NFCA (first-team OF in 2024, second-team SS in 2025) while being a two-time first-team selection by the D2CCA (OF in 2024, SS in 2025). An At-Large selection at shortstop, the Pittsburg, Kan., native ended her historic collegiate career with a final campaign for the ages with a.525 batting average, 114 hits, 81 runs scored, 38 stolen bases, 39 RBI, 15 doubles and seven triples. At time of writing, she leads Division II for hits, second for runs scored and batting average in 2026. Arnett in Division II history (As of May 27) is third in season hits, tied for fourth in career hits (374), seventh in career runs scored (254), tied for sixth in season runs scored and tied for 15th for career stolen bases (155).

Davis was one of nine members of the first-team that were unanimous selections this season and is the first Gorilla in program history to be named the Catcher of the Year. The NFCA started recognizing a Catcher of the Year beginning in 2006 and have done so in each completed season since. The Harrisburg, Ark., native this season finished with a .400 average, .766 slugging and .488 on base percentages for a team-high 1.254 OPS, while setting a school record with 82 runs batted in. Her RBI tally is the second-highest in MIAA history and is ranked third in Division II for this season. Davis also led the team with 14 home runs to go with 70 hits, 50 runs scored, 18 doubles, 33 walks drawn and caught 11 runners attempting to steal.

Trochim earned the first All-American honors in her career at Pittsburg State, the Waco, Texas native finished the season with a .446/.547/.697 slash line (1.244 OPS). At third base this season, she recorded 47 putouts and 64 assists for a .965 fielding percentage. Trochim accumulated 78 hits, scored 48 runs, drove in 76 RBI with 18 doubles, eight home runs and a triple to go with a team-high 39 walks drawn, 11 hit-by-pitches and nine sacrifice flies in 2026. For her career at Pittsburg State, Trochim appeared in 219 games (T-7th) with 218 starts (7th) with 122 runs scored (12th), 197 hits (T-10th), 40 doubles (T-7th), 25 home runs (T-11th), 163 RBI (6th), 91 walks drawn (2nd) while being a .337 hitter (23rd) with a .439 on base (11th) and .551 slugging percentages (15th) for a .991 OPS (14th).
