Pittsburg State University Athletics

General: Third-year player… a returning All-MIAA performer who is poised for a big junior season… a strong-armed passer who will look to build on a record-breaking statistical first season directing the Pitt State offense… a two-year team captain (2011-12) after being voted to the post again during spring drills.

In 2012: Started all 10 games for the Gorillas under center… completed 169 of 280 passes(.604) for 2,330 yards and 15 touchdowns with nine interceptions, earning honorable mention All-MIAA honors... broke PSU single game records for pass completions (26) and passing yards (378) in his first career start vs. Northeastern State (Aug. 30), earning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors… ranks first all-time in highest season passing yards per game (233.0) and his 2,330 yards on the season places third all-time in program history… holds four of the top 10 spots for most single game passing yards at Pitt State… currently ranks second in career completion percentage (.596).

In 2011: Saw action in a reserve role in seven games… completed 15 of 29 passes (.517) for 264 yards and three touchdowns with one interception… completed nine of 16 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown vs. William Jewell (Sept. 24)… also completed four of eight passes for 108 yards and two TDs vs. Lincoln (Oct. 15).
In 2010: Redshirt season.

In High School: The Eastern Kansas League Offensive Player of the Year as a senior at Blue Valley High in 2009… the first-team All-EKL quarterback and punter for the Tigers… also an All-Metro selection at quarterback… a three-year starter for Blue Valley… also competed in basketball and baseball for the Tigers.

Personal: Born June 26, 1992… son of Mario and Tamela Abenoja… a physical education major
