Pittsburg State University Athletics

General: Sixth-year player… one of the premier linebackers in NCAA Division II… a returning NCAA Division II All-America performer… primed for another big campaign… has compiled 160 career tackles… a two-year PSU team captain (2023-24).

In 2023: Started all 13 games… posted a team-leading 95 tackles (47 solo) with 11.0 tackles-for-loss and 5.0 quarterback sacks, both team highs… also recorded one interception and three pass breakups… posted a career-best 14 tackles (seven solo) with 3.5 TFLs in the season opener vs. Washburn (Aug. 31), earning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors… matched his career high with 14 stops in the NCAA-II playoffs vs. UIndy (Nov. 18)… also had 2.0 TFLs and an interception against the Greyhounds… earned first-team All-MIAA honors and garnered second-team All-America accolades from the Associated Press, D2CCA and Don Hansen.

In 2022: Saw action in 12 games… made 22 tackles (nine solo) with 0.5 tackles-for-loss and two pass breakups on the season… posted a season best five tackles vs. Lincoln (Oct. 15).

In 2019-21: Competed in all 11 games, including one start, in 2021… posted 39 tackles (22 solo) with 1.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception and one pass breakup… logged seven stops vs. MSSU (Oct. 2)… saw action in all four games in 2020, including one start… made four tackles (two solo) on the season… redshirted in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2019).

In High School: The Oklahoma Class 5A District Four Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Bishop Kelley High School as a senior in 2018… made 260 career tackles for the Comets with 22.0 career quarterback sacks, two interceptions and two blocked kicks.

Personal: Born May 24, 2000… son of Phil and Donna Barkley… a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… graduated from PSU with a 3.30 GPA and a bachelor's degree in finance in December 2023… currently has a 3.75 GPA pursuing a master's of business administration (MBA) degree.
