Prior to PSU - At Labette Community College, Haywood was a first-team All-Conference performer as a Cardinal and coach Alex Caplon.

HS - Prepped at Rogers High School where he played for coach Matt Nelson as a Mountie ... Was an All-State performer on the baseball field helping the Mounties to a State Championship and two conference titles while having a career 2.33 ERA.
