Biography

General: Third-year player… a talented defensive lineman… coming off an All-MIAA campaign in 2017… expected to be an impact performer at nose guard again this fall.

In 2017: Saw action in all 12 games, including nine starts… made 26 tackles (12 solo) with 1.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.0 quarterback sacks on the season… made a season-high five stops vs. FHSU (Oct. 7).

In 2016: Saw action in 10 games in a reserve role… logged 17 tackles (seven solo) with 3.0 TFLs and 1.0 QB sack… made a season-high four tackles vs. MSSU (Nov. 12).

At WJC: Spent two seasons at William Jewell.

In High School: A first-team Kansas Class 4A All-State selection as a senior at Cheney High School in 2014… a three-year starter for the Cardinals.

Personal: Born October 18, 1995… son of Jeremy Payne and April Albert… a two-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… has a 3.40 GPA as a mathematics major.
