PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pitt State women's basketball team lost a 62-57 battle to Missouri Southern Wednesday (February 27) night at John Lance Arena.

The Gorillas (17-9, 11-6 MIAA) were outrebounded by 15 and took only nin trips to the line in the game. Missouri Southern (13-12, 7-10 MIAA) grabbed 48 rebounds in the game, including 17 off the offensive glass. The Lions also went to the line 21 times and made 16 of their charity shots.

Lizzy Jeronimus led all players with 17 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Drew Roberts added 12 points and Alexa Bordewick, 11. Morgan Westhoff was just short of double figures with nine.

Dominique Mosley came off the bench to lead a balanced MIssouri Southern scoring attack with 12 points. Shonte Clay added 11. Erin Rice, Nicole Hartzog and Jolee Sharp each scored eight and Sharese Jones, seven.

There were four ties and 12 lead changes in the game, with eight of the lead changes coming in the fist half. Neither team led by more than six in the game.

MIssouri Southern had a 25-23 lead at the half. The team built their lead to four points at 27-23 before Pitt State went on a 9-0 run capped by a Kylie Gafford layup to put the Gorillas up 32-27. Missouri Southern grabbed the lead for good on a Mosley tipin with 10:16 left in the game. Though Pitt State kept the game close, they were not able to push back into the lead.

Pitt State will play its final regular season game on Saturday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. against Emporia State. Drew Roberts will be honored before the game for scoring 1,000 career points. Both the men's and women's seniors, including women's players Roberts, Lisa Elmer and Lauren Brown, will be honored between the men's and women's games.
