Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team saw its 2025-26 season come to an end Friday (Mar. 6) in a 60-49 loss to Washburn University in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Basketball Championships at Municipal Auditorium.
The Gorillas (18-11) led early in the contest but a cold shooting afternoon forced Pitt State into playing from behind as the Ichabods (22-7) advanced to the semifinals where WU will face No. 7 seed Missouri Western State University Saturday at 2:15 p.m. (CST).
Clara Swearingen paced the Gorillas with 15 points, while
Marin Adams added 12 points.
Kaycee McCumber added four points and a game-high 12 rebounds and outgoing senior
Harper Schreiner chipped in with four points and 10 rebounds in her final game for Pitt State. The Gorillas shot 26.8 percent from the field in the game, making just 15 of 56 attempts.
WU got 19 points and 10 rebounds from Yiibari Nwidadah and 12 points apiece from Madelyn Amekporfor and Gabi Giovannetti.
