The Lady Hornets wrap up the regular season with a 22-4 overall record and 15-4 mark in MIAA play, while the Gorillas are now 24-5 overall (14-4 MIAA) heading into their regular season finale Saturday (Feb. 28) at Topeka against Washburn University.

ESU scored the game's first six points and never trailed against Pitt State, but the game remained in doubt throughout.

Lizzy Jeronimus scored a team-leading 19 points, including a layup with 58 seconds to play that pulled the Gorillas within two points, 58-56.

ESU's Kelsey Barnwell missed a jumper with 29 seconds remaining to give Pitt State a chance to play for the tie or the lead.

After Moten's free throws, the Lady Hornets twice fouled the Gorillas as they tried to advance the ball down the court. ESU was called for just four personal fouls in the first 19:51 of the second half.

The Lady Hornets made 21 of 52 shots (.404), but were limited to five of 22 shooting (.227) in the second half. ESU overcame the tepid shooting by converting 13 of 18 second half free throws after making no trips to the foul line in the opening stanza.
