ST. CLOUD, Minn. — St. Cloud State University raced out to a 10-point lead five minutes into the game and the Huskies never looked back in taking a 91-68 win over Pittsburg State University in the final game of the MIAA/NSIC Challenge Saturday (Nov. 12).
SCSU (1-4) shot 53.4 percent from the field in the contest, making 31 of 58 shots in the game. Gage Davis scored a game-high 26 points, while Scottie Stone added 22 points for the Huskies. SCSU buried 13 3-pointers in the game.
Pitt State (0-2) shot just 40.4 percent (23-57) from the floor in the game and the Gorillas were victimized by 19 turnovers.
Creighton Brinker scored a career-high 18 points to lead Pitt State, while Isaiah Hicks also chipped in with 12 points. Brandon Clifford added nine points, while Christian Edmondson finished with seven points and a team-leading eight rebounds.
The Gorillas will make their home debut Tuesday (Nov. 15) when they host Newman University at 7 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena.
