LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell College raced out to a 12-3 lead against Pittsburg State University and never looked back in taking an 81-57 victory Thursday (Nov. 17).
The Gorillas (1-3) shot just 35.5 percent from the field in the game, making just 22 of 62 attempts while the Cardinals (2-0) shot 52.4 percent (33-63).
Isaiah Hicks paced Pitt State with a team-leading 11 points, while Elijah Gaines chipped in with nine points. Colton Pitko, Christian Edmondson and Brandon Phelps all added seven points.
Patrick Whelan and Emil Ostafilcuic paced WJC with 17 points apiece, while Jorge Perez-Laham added 14 points.
