PITTSBURG -- Trey Starks matched his career-high scoring output from 48 hours prior, pouring in 28 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 77-61 victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Saturday (Feb. 13).
The Gorillas (14-11, 9-10 MIAA) outscored the Lopers (15-9, 11-7 MIAA) 21-12 in the final 6:08 to break open a five-point game to snap UNK's six-game winning streak. Pitt State shot 55.2 percent in the second half (16-29) and finished the game 50 percent overall (30 of 60).
Starks scored 21 of his game-high 28 points in the second half. Josiah Gustafson added 13 points, while Javis Flynn finished with 10 points and four assists.
Connor Beranek had 21 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out of the contest. Trey Lansman added 20 points for the Lopers, who shot just 40.7 percent (22-54) in the game and committed 17 turnovers.
