KEARNEY, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Kearney jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings Thursday (Apr. 14) and the Lopers rode that early momentum to a 9-5 victory over Pittsburg State University in the opening game of a three-game MIAA series.
The two teams will now face one another in a doubleheader Friday (Apr. 15) at 1 p.m.
The win helped UNK improve to 15-20 overall, 12-14 in MIAA play, while Pitt State dropped to 9-26 overall and 4-22 in the MIAA.
Christian Arnold collected three of the Gorillas' 12 hits in the contest, going 3-for-4 with a double. Gage Grant drove in a pair of runs.
