PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team broke open a 7-5 game with an eight-run seventh inning as the Gorillas defeated Lincoln University 15-9 Saturday (Apr. 9) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Gorillas (8-24, 3-20 MIAA) will go for the series sweep against the Blue Tigers (1-32, 0-23 MIAA) at 1 p.m. Sunday (Apr. 10).
Jacob Boylan paced Pitt State's 17-hit attack by going 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Brett Macary also went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI in moving to the leadoff spot in the Gorillas batting order. Andrew Vogelbaugh also went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Ryan McKay (3-1) worked seven strong innings for Pitt State and relievers Bren Fisher and Ty Rowe helped shut the door on the Blue Tigers.
