Box Score HAYS, Kan. --- After trailing at the end of the first half, the Fort Hays State University women's basketball team fought back to capture a 75-70 win over No. 19 Pittsburg State University on Saturday (Dec. 2).
The Tigers improve to 7-0 on the season (2-0 MIAA), while handing the Gorillas their second loss of the season (6-2, 0-2 MIAA).
FHSU trailed Pitt State 35-33 at the half, the Tigers outshot the Gorillas 48.1 percent from the field compared to a 41.9 percent in the first half.
Kacey Kennett scored a team-leading 20 points for FHSU, while Belle Barbieri added 10 rebounds. FHSU shot 45.45 percent from beyond the arc in the contest and the Tigers made 15 of 19 free throws.
Mikaela Burgess led all scorers with 24 points to pace the Gorillas. She made five of ten 3-point attempts in the game, while the Pitt State squad shot 10-for-24 from long range.
Maya Williams added 11 points for the Gorillas, while Paige Imhoff added 8 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
