EDMOND, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead -- thanks to three-run second and fourth innings -- and the Gorillas claimed a 10-1 victory over the University of Central Oklahoma Saturday (Mar. 25).
The Gorillas (12-17, 6-9 MIAA) will go for the series sweep of the Bronchos (16-10-1, 6-9 MIAA) at Noon Sunday.
Logan Terrell sparked the Pitt State offense by going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBIs. Jack Mercer, Brett Macary and Colton Pogue all added two hits each for the Gorillas.
Ty Rowe (2-0) worked five scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for the Gorillas. He scattered five hits and registered six strikeouts in relief of starter Ethan Vanderpool, who allowed one earned run and five hits in four innings of work.
