Fourth Quarter Surge Leads Pitt State to 69-61 Road Win

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team outscored Lincoln University, 11-4, to open the fourth quarter. The Gorillas turned a three-point game into a 10-point margin and the squad rode that surge to a 69-61 road win Thursday (Jan. 11).
 
Paige Imhoff led a balanced Gorillas scoring attack with 16 points, while Shelby Lopez (14) and Madison Northcutt (11) also scored in double figures. Athena Alvarado and Mikaela Burgess chipped in with nine points apiece as Pitt State improved to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in MIAA play.
 
LU (3-12, 0-7 MIAA) got a game-high 18 points from Faith Brintle, while Robin Butler added 12 points and Tempary Gunter finished with 10.
 
The Gorillas struggled at the free throw line in the contest, converting just 19 of 32 charity shots. Still, Pitt State outscored the Blue Tigers by nine points at the foul line (19-10) as LU made 10 of 13 attempts.
 
The Gorillas forced the Blue Tigers into 20 turnovers in the contest.
 
Pitt State will continue its road swing Saturday (Jan. 13) when the Gorillas face Lindenwood University at St. Charles, Mo., at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
