KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pittsburg State University senior guard Harper Schreiner was named the Athletic Solutions "A Game" Scholar-Athlete of the 2026 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship today (Mar. 6).
The top ten teams from the 2025-26 MIAA women's basketball regular season are in Kansas City, Mo., this week for the league's postseason basketball tournament, hosted March 4-8 in Kansas City's historic Municipal Auditorium. Among the many NCAA Division II student-athletes competing in the championship, Pittsburg State's Harper Schreiner was selected as the championship's "A Game" Scholar-Athlete for her performances on and off the court.
Established by the MIAA in 2022, "A Game" Scholar-Athlete Award presented by Athletic Solutions acknowledges the overall excellence of a student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to their team's success while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers. The student-athlete honored with the "A Game" Scholar-Athlete Award must be an active member of a qualifying team and must have a minimum of two terms completed at the institution.
Schreiner is a 5-8 senior guard from Eudora, Kan., on the Gorillas women's basketball team. In the classroom, she's a nursing major with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and 109 completed credits at the university. On the court, Schreiner has started all 28 games for the Gorillas and leads the team with 32.5 minutes played per game. A member of the two-time defending MIAA tournament champions, Schreiner is averaging 11.0 points and ranks 13th in the MIAA with 6.7 rebounds per game. Her 82.8 free-throw percentage also ranks seventh in the league, while her 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game rank within the league's top 20.
Schreiner is the second consecutive Pittsburg State women's basketball player to earn the "A Game" Scholar-Athlete honor and the ninth Gorilla overall to claim the title.
The MIAA will present Schreiner with the Athletic Solutions "A Game" Scholar-Athlete award this Friday, March 6, before tip-off of Pitt State's quarterfinal game in the 2026 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship in Kansas City.
