KEARNEY, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Kearney baseball team pounded out 20 hits to pull away for a 16-4 run-rule victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Apr. 28) at Memorial Field.
The Lopers (27-19, 20-12 MIAA) scored in every inning except the third. UNK broke up a 6-4 game with two runs in the fifth inning, four runs in the sixth, a run in the seventh and three more runs in the eighth to halt the game by run-rule.
The Gorillas (28-16, 20-12 MIAA) got a two-run home run from Dallas Reed to stake them to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Reed went 2-for-4 in the game. Cody White also went 2-for-4 for Pitt State.
The Gorillas and Lopers will wrap up their three-game series with a Noon contest Sunday.
