PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State University volleyball team defeats Missouri Southern State University in straight sets on Friday (Sept. 14). The Gorillas defeated the Lions 25-23, 25-21, 25-15.
PSU (12-2, 1-0 MIAA) hit a match-high .333 in match three to sweep the Lions 3-0. Lauren Regier and Claire Sandvig both recorded 9 kills on the match to pace the Gorillas offense. Camryn Blanton added 24 assists for the Gorillas, with Lauren Dunn recording 14 digs.
MSSU (0-10, 0-1 MIAA) hit only .021 as a team. Janelle Brehm led the Lions with nine kills followed by Alicia Pickett with three kills and three blocks. Kylee Kaaihue contributed 19 assists for the Lions offense and Morgan Nash recorded 19 digs on the match.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Sept. 15) when the Gorillas host Southwest Baptist University at John Lance Arena at 2 p.m.
