Gorillas Wrap Up Action in Arkansas Qualifier Friday


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams wrapped up action at the University of Arkansas Qualifier Friday (Feb. 21) at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The meet served as the final tune-up before the Gorillas host the 2020 MIAA Indoor Championships next weekend.

In the women's action, Brianna Cooks placed second overall in the weight throw with a top throw of 61 feet, 7.75 inches. Asia Anderson registered a personal best in the long jump. She posted the ninth-best mark in NCAA Division II this season (19-2.75). Kinsey Laird also recorded an NCAA qualifying mark with her sixth place mark of 12-9.5 in the pole vault.

In the men's action, Louis Rollins raced to a personal best time of 7.93 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. The mark lands at No. 5 on the NCAA Division II performance list to date. Additionally, Levi Wyrick placed third in the weight throw (61-3, PQ) and Konner Swenson finished fourth in the shot put (56-10.75, PQ). Cameron Wright and Cameron Johnson both cleared 16-6.75 in the pole vault (PQ), placing fourth and fifth respectively. The 4x400m relay of Nizar Alarahshun, Matthew Morris, Jared Page and Jacob Querry placed third in 3:20.91.
