ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team dropped a pair of games in Arkansas Saturday (Feb. 12) falling to Ouachita Baptist University and Southern Arkansas University. The Tigers defeated the Gorillas 10-9 in afternoon action and the Muleriders handed Pitt State a 6-3 setback in the nightcap.
The Gorillas (2-4) took a 9-6 lead into the bottom of the eighth against OBU, but the Tigers plated four runs in the frame to rally for the victory.Â
Aaron Gerdes collected three hits, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs to pace the Pitt State offense. Jordan Maxson and Mason Hartman had two hits and two RBIs apiece as well. Pitt State pitchers issued 11 walks in the contest. Tanner Lane (0-1) took the loss in relief allowing one run in 1.0 innings of work.
SAU struck for three runs apiece in the third and fourth innings to claim a 6-3 win over the Gorillas. Zach Curry (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs in 3.3 innings pitched.
