PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University baseball team opened its 2022 home season with a loss to Oklahoma Baptist University, 15-14.
A quick start by the Bison would put the Gorillas behind after two innings of play 3-1. Pitt State would go to work in the third with back to back long balls by Garrett McGowan and Jordan Maxson to tie the game up at four runs a piece.
The Bison would answer back with a four run top of the fourth to take the lead back 8-4. The Bison would add on two runs in 6th to take a 10-7 lead into the seventh inning.
The bats would come alive for the Gorillas in the seventh scoring seven runs off of hits from Korrey Siracusa and Caleb Carr to take the lead 14-13. The Gorillas would hold onto the lead until the ninth inning when the Bison would score two runs to give the game a final score of 15-14.
Pitt State returns to action Friday (Feb. 18) to take on Wayne State College in Pittsburg.
