PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes continued to pick off school records Saturday (Feb. 12) at the Seventh Annual Gorilla Indoor Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
The Pitt State men posted five new school records: Hunter Jones won the high jump with a new standard of 7 feet, 1 inch; L.J. Kiner won the triple jump with a mark of 52-1.25; Mason Strader lowered his record time in the mile run with his second place effort of 4 minutes, 2.51 seconds; Braylen Brewer bested his school record in the 400 meters with his victorious time of 46.59; and, Bryce Grahn shaved off nine seconds from his school record in the 3,000 meters with his winning time of 8:05.66.
In the women's action, Kate Dawson jumped to the top of the record book in the mile run with her time of 4:56.65.
In other notable action Saturday, Nizar Alarahshun placed second in the men's 400m (47.43, PQ) and Matthew Oglesby finished second in the men's 3,000m (8:13.58). Isabelle Peters (13-7.75, PQ) and Kyla Davis (13-3.75, PQ) placed second and third, respectively, in the women's pole vault, while the women's 4x400m relay of Matti Price, Olivia Lowery, Christine Williams and Trace Mosby placed second in 3:46.73 (PQ).
