PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and rode that early momentum to a 9-2 victory over Wayne State College Saturday (Feb. 19) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Gorillas (3-5) pounded out nine runs on 11 hits with Caleb Carr and Kaden Fowler delivering two hits each as well as a pair of RBIs apiece. Cruz Aranda also went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
Peyton Ingalls (1-1) scattered three hits over 5.0 innings of work to earn the victory. He issued three walks and struck out four batters. Zach Nagel, Bennett Scherer and Jordan Mendenhall combined to pitch four scoress innings of relief.
Pitt State and Wayne State (0-1) will resume the three-game series with a 1 p.m. (CST) game Sunday (Feb. 20).
