PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team capitalized on a five-run second inning to claim a 9-5 victory over Wayne State College Monday (Feb. 21) at Al Ortolani Field. The victory helped the Gorillas (4-6) take two of three games in the series against the Wildcats (1-2).
Garrett McGowan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. He belted his team-leading sixth home run of the season in the contest. Ryan Koval also went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a double and two RBIs. Caleb Carr also knocked in a pair of runs.
Zach Curry (1-1) allowed three runs, two earned, in 5.0 innings of work to earn the victory. Conner Van Cleave, Jordan Mendenall and Tanner Lane worked in relief behind Curry.
