JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern State University baseball team broke up a 3-2 game by scoring 11 striaght runs and pull away for a 14-2 run-rule victory over Pittsburg State University Monday (Feb. 28) at Warren Turner Field.
The Lions (8-7, 1-2 MIAA) prevented the Gorillas (6-7, 2-1 MIAA) from sweeping the three-game MIAA series after Pitt State swept a doubleheader from MSSU Sunday.
Cade Clemons belted a solo home run for the Gorillas, while Jordan Maxson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Zach Curry (1-2) was charged with the loss.
Pitt State will face a short turnaround time as the Gorillas will play host to Southwest Baptist in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. at Al Ortolani Field.
