PITTSBURG — Jordan Maxson belted three home runs and drove in seven runs to help propel the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 21-11 run-rule victory over Northwest Missouri State University Sunday (Mar. 13) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Gorillas (12-7, 7-1 MIAA) have won six straight games heading into the series finale against the Bearcats (5-13, 1-7 MIAA) Sunday.
Maxson swatted three two-run home runs in the contest and added a run-scoring single in his second at-bat in the third inning when the Gorillas sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in the frame.
Ben Des Rosiers (2-1) earned the win in relief. He allowed three runs over 3.3 innings.
Maxson finished the game 4-for-5 with four runs scored and seven RBI. Kaden Fowler hit a pair of home runs, including a walk-off two run shot to the the game. He went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI. Caleb Carr had three hits in the contest, while Cruz Aranda and Mason Hartman had two hits apiece. Conner Van Cleave added a two-run pinch hit double.
