PITTSBURG — Garrett McGowan delivered the go-ahead RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 9-8 victory over Northwest Missouri State University Monday (Mar. 14).

The Gorilas (13-7, 8-1 MIAA) claimed their seventh straight victory and swept the three-game MIAA series against the Bearcats (5-14, 1-8 MIAA).

McGowan went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBI in the contest. Cruz Aranda also went 3-for-5 with a one out double in the eighth inning to set up McGowan's game winning hit. Kaden Fowler also belted a two-run home run in the contest.

Zach Nagel (2-0) earned the win in relief. Nagel allowed just two hits and one run in 3.0 innings of relief work. He registered three strikeouts. Nagel entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the sixth inning when NWMSU plated five runs to turn a 4-3 deficit into an 8-4 lead.

Jordan Mendenhall earned his second save of the season by recording the final three outs.
