RiverHawks Open Series With 11-8 Victory

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State University baseball team scored four runs in the pivotal sixth inning to break open a 6-6 game and pull away for an 11-8 victory over Pittsburg State University in the MIAA series opener Friday (Mar. 18) at Rousy Field.

The RiverHawks (16-8, 5-5 MIAA) snapped the Gorillas (14-8, 9-2 MIAA) eight-game winning streak in the contest. The two teams will resume their three-game series with a 2 p.m. game Saturday.

Kaden Fowler and Brett Daley drove in a pair of runs each for Pitt State. Fowler and Korrey Siracusa collected two hits apiece to pace the Gorillas nine-hit attack. Jordan Maxson swatted his 10th home run of the season – a solo shot in the top of the first inning.

Paul Panduro (0-3)  took the loss. He failed to record an out in the sixth inning allowing two runs on a hit and a walk. Tanner Lane started the game. He surrendered six runs, five earned, in 5.0 innings of work.
