PITTSBURG -- Garrett McGowan went 4-for-5 at the plate and drove in six runs to help lead the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 14-1 victory over Fort Hays State University Friday (Mar. 25) at Al Ortolani Field.
The victory helped Pitt State improve to 16-9 overall and 11-3 in MIAA play, while FHSU slipped to 3-23 (2-12 MIAA). The Gorillas and Tigers will resume their three-game MIAA series with a 2 p.m. game Saturday.
Tanner Lane (3-1) limited the Tigers to a pair of hits and one run over 5.0 innings of work. He issued one walk and registered six strikeouts.
Mason Hartman also went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Kaden Fowler collected three hits and scored three runs. Conner Van Cleave belted a solo home run for the Gorillas, who pounded out15 hits in the contest.
