PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team struck for six runs in the first inning and never looked back in rolling to a 23-3 run-rule victory over Rogers State University Sunday (Apr. 10) at Al Ortolani Field.
Four Gorillas belted home runs on the day: Brett Daley, Braeden Hinton, Austin Bonnell and Caleb Carr. Carr delivered a pinch hit grand slam in Pitt State's seven run third inning, while Daley belted a three-run shot as part of the Gorillas' six-run first inning.
Ben Des Rosiers (5-1) limited RSU (19-18, 12-11 MIAA) to one run and three hits over 4.0 innings of work. Brett Wiemers, Paul Panduro and Conner Van Cleave each worked one inning on the mound behind Des Rosiers.
Mason Hartman led Pitt State's 16-hit attack by going 3-for-4 at the plate. He doubled and scored three runs. Garrett McGowan also went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
