WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The University of Central Missouri baseball team rallied from 3-0 and 4-1 deficits early in the game to come back to claim an 8-5 victory over Pittsburg State University Friday (Apr. 15) at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (32-4, 25-1 MIAA) scored three runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-5 lead and UCM added two more insurance runs in the eighth to seal the win.
Brennen vanBreusegen went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs to pace the Mules.
Garrett McGowan had a solo home run among his three hits to lead the Pitt State offense. Caleb Carr collected a pair of hits and Conner Van Cleave drove in two runs for the Gorillas (23-15, 17-9 MIAA).
Peyton Ingalls limited UCM to three runs in 6.3 innings of work. Zach Nagel (3-1) took the loss in relief, surrendering three runs in 0.3 innings pitched.
The Gorillas and Mules will wrap up their three-game series with a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
