PITTSBURG — The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team scored eight runs in the top of eighth inning to rally past Pittsburg State University for a 14-11 victory Sunday (Apr. 3) at Al Ortolani Field.
The win in the series finale allowed the Bronchos (19-13, 12-8 MIAA) to take two of three games in the series against the Gorillas (20-11, 15-5 MIAA).
Cruz Aranda homered twice, including a grand slam slam in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Mason Hartman smacked an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Pitt State, but it wasn't enough to hold off UCO.
Garrett Takamatsu swatted two home runs for the Bronchos, while Kaleb Glass went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double and four RBI and Clayton Peterson drove in four more runs.
Jordan Mendenhall (2-1) took the loss for Pitt State. Mendenhall allowed four runs, three earned, in 0.2 innings of work.
Justin Bailey (2-3) got the win for UCO, while Kyler Patterson registered his seventh save of the season while fanning six batters in 2.0 innings of work for the Bronchos.
