Distance Corps Works in Final Tune-Up at Rock Chalk Classic Saturday


LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University men's and women's track & field distance runners worked in a final tune-up before the 2022 MIAA Championships next week by competing at the Rock Chalk Classic Saturday (Apr. 30).

Among notable performances, Connar Southard won the men's 1,500 meter invitational in a personal best time of 3 minutes, 49.38 seconds. Bryce Grahn also won the men's steeplechase in 8:57.46. Mason Strader placed fourth in the men's 800 meter invitational in 1:51.85, while Matt Wilson placed seventh in 1:53.92.

In the women's action, Marissa Dick turned in a PR time of 11:31.66 in the steeplechase, placing third in the race overall. Kate Dawson finished sixth in the 1,500 meter invitational in 438.64, while Erin Hammeke placed sixth in the steeplechase (11:54.40) and Hannah Honeyman finished sixth in the 5,000 meters in 17:51.88.
