ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Four Pittsburg State Gorillas scored in double figures en route to a 95-72 win over Henderson State at the Duke Wells Center (Nov. 22) in the final non-conference game before MIAA play.
Owning a 47-43 advantage at the half the Gorillas used a 24-point third quarter to peel away from the Reddies (3-2). As a team the Gorillas (5-0) shot 51.4 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from three, and 93.3 percent from free throws while holding a 56-29 advantage on the glass and a 64-26 advantage from points in the paint.
Pitt State was led by Karenna Gerber's (Halstead, Kan.) 14th career double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Macie Mays (El Dorado Springs, Mo.) led the bench unit with 18 points, while Grace Pyle (McPherson, Kan.) and Sydney Holmes (Maize, Kan.) each finished with 15 points. Harper Schreiner (Eudora, Kan.) finished with nine rebounds, eight points, a team-high six points and three steals.
Up next for the Gorillas will be MIAA action on the road against Missouri Western on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Northwest Missouri on Saturday, Dec. 2.
