Gorillas Wrap Action at Rock Chalk Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes wrapped up action at the Rock Chalk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas Saturday (Apr. 29). In the women's action, a pair of throwers – Abby Lasiter and Addison Hinterweger – recorded personal-best efforts in the hammer throw. Lasiter posted a best mark of 174 feet, 8 inches, while Hinterweger registered a best mark of 162-2. Other notable women's marks, included Amber Walbeck in the javelin (136-0); Claire Bruening (4:38.97) and Annie McCord (4:43.32) in the 1,500 meters; and Hannah Honeyman in the 5,000 meters (18:10.06). McCord also posted a personal-best time Saturday. In the men's action, Sam Tudor just missed his PR time in the 400 meters with his time of 47.15. Other notable performances included Diego Contreras (3:51.49) and Braden Zaner (3:56.91) in the 1,500 meters; Matthew Oglesby (15:00.34) and Ben Kahnk (15:03.57) in the 5,000 meters; Matt Wilson in the 800 meters (1:54.77); Konner Swenson (191-3) and Jack Haukup (190-11) in the hammer; and Cole Sample in the shot put (53-3).
