No. 20 Gorillas Secure Program's 800th Victory

PITTSBURG — Grace Pyle scored a game-high 23 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 83-67 victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Thursday (Jan. 11) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

The No. 20 ranked Gorillas (12-2, 6-2 MIAA) recorded the program's 800th all-time victory in dispatching the Lopers (12-3, 6-3 MIAA). Pitt State has compiled an 800-559 all-time record in 50 seasons of play.

Pyle made eight of 16 shots from the floor in the game and added eight rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots to her stat line.

Alba Lozano Davila sparked the Gorillas with 18 points off the bench, including 12 in the second half as Pitt State broke open a 38-35 game at the intermission.

Harper Schreiner chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Macie Mays finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Karenna Gerber also posted eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

Samantha Moore and Kia Wilson paced the Lopers with 12 points apiece, while Shiloh McCook added 11 points.

The Gorillas will return to MIAA action Saturday (Jan. 13) by hosting No. 15 ranked Fort Hays State University at 1:30 p.m. (CST). The Tigers dropped a 67-58 road decision to Missouri Southern State University Thursday.
