PITTSBURG — Macie Mays scored a career high 25 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to an 82-72 victory over Northeastern State University Saturday (Jan. 27).
Mays made nine of 14 shots from the floor as the Gorillas (14-5, 8-5 MIAA) shot 50 percent (28-56) from the field in the game.
Karenna Gerber also posted a double-double with 19 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Jenna Shipley chipped in with a season high 17 points and three blocked shots. Grace Pyle also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Pitt State led 36-34 at halftime before expanding its margin to 10 points, 60-50, after three quarters of play.
NSU (9-10, 5-8 MIAA) got 18 points from Tor'e Alford, 15 points from Halie Jones and 13 points from Courtney Lee.
The Gorillas will travel to Edmond, Okla., to battle the University of Central Oklahoma next Thursday (Feb. 1).
