Jennies Defeat Gorillas, 2-1

PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team played valiantly in a 2-1 home defeat at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch Sunday (Nov. 3) to the University of Central Missouri.

In the 38th minute the Jennies (12-4-2, 9-2-1 MIAA) got on the board from an Andree Orcutt free kick right outside the 18-yard box. The second half would see the Gorillas (7-8-2, 3-6-2 MIAA) tie it up in the 52nd minute with redshirt sophomore midfielder Avianna Gonzalez (Papillion, Neb.) claiming her first goal of her career from just outside the six-yard box. UCM was not done with the game winning goal being scored by Izzy Joyce in the 59th minute with Ashleigh Martin picking up the assist.
