EDMOND, Okla. — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team outscored the University of Central Oklahoma, 21-9, over the final 9:28 of regulation to rally for a 79-76 victory Wednesday (Dec. 4).

The Gorillas (5-3, 1-0 MIAA) trailed 67-58 midway through the second half before mounting their comeback in the MIAA opener for both schools at Hamilton Field House.

Guards Avery Taggart and Jordan Frison both poured in season high scoring totals with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Forward Evan Jackson also posted his first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. His dunk with 57 seconds remaining provided the game's final three-point scoring margin and helped solidify the Pitt State win.

The Gorillas shot 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field in the game, while limiting the Bronchos (4-3, 0-1 MIAA) to 33.8 percent (24-71) shooting. UCO outscored Pitt State, 22-11, at the free throw line in a game that featured 39 combined personal fouls.
