RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- The Arkansas Tech University baseball team broke open a 5-5 game with two runs in the seventh inning and the Wonde Boys tacked on three additional insurance runs for a 10-6 win Tuesday (Feb. 13).
The Gorillas (6-3) had a three-game winning streak halted with the decision.
Austin Warkins belted a solo home run to stake Pitt State to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Blake Mozley and Jake Grauberger each drove in a pair of runs in the contest as well. Mozley, Grauberger and Cade Clemons each had two hits. Mozley hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run fifth inning for the Gorillas.
Gage Singer (0-1) took the loss in relief for Pitt State. Singer was charged with two unearned runs in 2.0 innings of work behind starter Christian Spitz. The Gorillas defense made three errors in the contest, allowing four unearned runs to score in the game.
Pitt State will return home to face Southwest Baptist University in a three-game non-conference series Friday and Saturday (Feb. 16-17).
