KEARNEY, Neb. - The Pittsburg State women's basketball team claimed their 20th win of the season, 85-57 against Nebraska-Kearney from the Health & Sports Center (Feb. 24).
Leading at the half, 45-26 Pitt State (20-6, 14-6 MIAA) kept the momentum to the final buzzer shooting .423 percent from three (11-of-26), .508 percent from the field (33-of-65) and a perfect 8-of-8 from free throws to achieve back-to-back 20 win seasons.
Alba Lozano led the team with 13 points (3-of-6 from three) and eight rebounds off the bench. Harper Schreiner finished with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jenna Shipley (11), Grace Pyle (11) and Karenna Gerber (10) round out those that scored in double digits.
Nebraska-Kearney, (18-9, 12-9 MIAA) was led by Jillian Aschoff with 12 points and three assists in the loss.
Up next for the Gorillas will be Emporia State (Feb. 28) and Missouri Western (Mar. 2) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court to close out the regular season in preparation for the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. (Mar.6-10).
