Gorillas Show Out in Topeka

TOPEKA — The No. 1 ranked Pittsburg State University men and No. 3 ranked Gorillas women wrapped up a solid weekend of action at the Washburn University Open & Multi's Saturday (Feb. 3).

Kyle Davis headlined three Pitt State individual event victories Saturday as she shattered her own school record in the women's pole vault. Davis won the discipline with a clearance of 14 feet, 3.25 inches. She ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division II this season.

On the men's side, Keylan Horn won the long jump with a best mark of 24-3.5 and Grayson Smith claimed victory in the pole vault with his clearance of 17-2.25. Smith now ranked No. 4 in D2 this season.

Other notable performances included Diandrenique Gaines setting a meet record with her time of 7.42 seconds in the prelims of the women's 60 meters. Jamiya Morgan (56.06) and Olivia Lowrey (56.21) secured NCAA qualifying marks in the women's 400 meters. Morgan registered a PR with her fast time. Abby Lasiter also picked up a PR in the shot put with her best toss of 45-9.75 - the 10th best mark in school history. Cade Williams also picked up an NCAA qualifying mark with his second-place performance in the men's 400 meters (48.08, PQ).
