PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will make its home debut by hosting Regis University in a three-day, four-game series beginning Friday (Feb. 9) at Al Ortolani Field.

The Gorillas and Rangers will play a single game Friday at 3 p.m. (CST), followed by a Noon doubleheader Saturday (Feb. 10) and a final game at 10 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 11).
The series originally was scheduled to be played at Denver, Colo., but was shifted to Pittsburg after the Denver area was hit with snow showers earlier this week.

Pitt State will bring a 3-1 record into the weekend action after opening the season at the UCO First Pitch Classic at Edmond, Okla., last weekend. After dropping a season-opening decision to Oklahoma Baptist University, the Gorillas rattled off three straight wins over East Central University (9-2 & 14-5) and New Mexico Highlands University (11-2).

Regis will bring a 2-1-1 record into Friday's action. The Rangers opened the season with four games against Westmont College at Santa Barbara, Calif., last week.

The Gorillas are batting .347 on the young season and scoring 9.8 runs per game. Pitt State's pitching staff currently sports a 5.91 ERA and the squad has a .952 fielding percentage to date.
Junior outfielder Josh Holmes is currently batting .583 with six runs scored, a home run, five RBI and four stolen bases RBI. He was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week for his season-opening efforts Monday (Feb. 5). Junior outfielder Karson Coffee is hitting .400 with eight runs scored, two home runs, four RBI and four stolen bases, while graduate infielder Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo is batting .375 with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.

Junior RHP Brady Pacha (0-1, 23.14 ERA), junior RHP Cason Long (1-0, 1.80 ERA), junior RHP Tanner Leslie (1-0, 3.60 ERA) and graduate RHP Alex Kafka (0-0, 2.25 ERA) are expected to make starts on the mound in the series for the Gorillas.
