Gorillas Wrap Action at SBU Bearcat Invitational

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes wrapped up action at the Southwest Baptist University Bearcat Invitational Saturday (Mar. 30) at Plaster Stadium.

The men's action featured a school record performance as well as three lightning quick times in the 800 meters. Jordan Kilonzo won the race in 1 minute, 50.62 seconds to edge teammates Mason Strader (1:50.65) and Dylan Sprecker (1:50.94) at the finish line. Strader and Walter Smith (1968) previously held the school record at 1:50.64. Sprecker's time now ranks fifth all-time at Pitt State.

Caleb Calvin won the javelin with a best throw of 237 feet, 2 inches, while Daylin Williams won the 110 meter hurdles in his season debut with a fast time of 13.79 seconds. Treyvon Ferguson claimed victory in the triple jump with a best mark of 50-0.75

Tre Betts (24-9.25) and Jaylynn Ellerbe-Cundiff (24-6.75) finished second and third, respectively, in the long jump. Brennan Boord also placed third in the discus (167-6). Joel Nyatusah also placed fourth in the hurdles in 13.98.

In the women's action, Taylor Nelloms (high jump, 5-7.75), Siby Yao (long jump, 18-11.25), Kate Dawson (800m, 2:09.08), Marissa Dick (steeplechase, 11:14.99) and Auna Childress (triple jump, 41-1) also registered individual event victories.

Kyla Davis (13-10) and Isabelle Peters (13-2.25) placed second and third in the pole vault. Davis registered a personal-best clearance.

Blakelee Winn placed third in the javelin (145-4) and posted times of 14.06 in the 100m hurdles and 24.85 in the 200m. Olivia Vanderweide placed second in the javelin with a PR mark of 147-1.
