CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Tanner Leslie tossed a complete-game four-hitter as the Pittsburg State University baseball team offense exploded for 12 runs in a 12-0 run-rule victory over Rogers State University Saturday (Mar. 9).
Leslie issued no walks and registered four strikeouts in the contest in improving to 4-0 on the season. Pitt State improved to 14-5 overall (5-2 MIAA) while Rogers State dropped to 13-5 overall (5-2 MIAA).
Cade Clemons and Nixon Brannan both belted solo home runs in the contest. Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo went 1-for-3 with a triple and five RBI. Austin Warkins also drove in a pair of runs. The Gorillas broke open a 2-0 game with three runs in the fifth inning, two more runs in the sixth and a five-run seventh frame.
The Gorillas and Hillcats will resume the three-game MIAA series with a 1 p.m. (CST) game Sunday (Mar. 10).
